The longest day

A walk in the woods on this, the longest day. Nettles taller than the kids, a painted turtle in the field, carp in the river, tornado-downed trees, a giant downed ash by the river with a beautiful burl, an ocean of poison ivy, trailblazing through the tall grass with our house in the distance on top of the hill. From tomorrow the days get shorter. The days are long, but the years are so short.
